ModernBathroom.com offers hundreds of products to people remodeling their homes and might I add, at a reasonable price. It is a full service site with quality bathroom furniture and fixtures. If you want vanities you have come to the right place! Their strong point is their huge selection of modern and antique bathroom vanities. They also carry a extensive selection of bathtubs, accessories, faucets and more including some very unique one of a kind products. I for one was stunned by the selection of vessel sinks. They are so diverse with different colors and designs that anyone could find one to fit their personality and their selection of vanities would make any Bathroomguru’s mouth drool. A piece of antique furniture is the perfect way to add a unique and personalized touch to your bathroom.
The first thing you will have to do is to select an appropriate piece of furniture. Just keep in mind that the sink bowl and plumbing will extend down into the interior of the furniture so make sure there is plenty of room inside.
Your next step is to create a custom made countertop template for your new vanity. You will have a lot less hassles if you take the time to create a template before you begin cutting away. Follow the old carpenters rule of measuring twice, cutting once. Read the rest of this entry »

Dr. Phil and home renovations, seems kinda strange, doesn’t it? I mean, after all, isn’t Dr. Phil some kind of “Self Help Guru”, you would never think that he was also a bathroom guru. Well, stranger things have happened… As is turns out, a despondent lady wrote the Dr. Phil Show complaining that their house was in shambles because her overtly enthusiastic husband could not curb his urge to start renovation projects around their house but never seemed to be able to finish one before he started the next. Have you heard the news? There will be job losses this year as the house building slump sends shockwaves through the economy. With the slowing down of the economy, house building jobs will be lost due to the fall in demand for new homes and the cost to build a new home will increase dramatically. The banks, house builders and property bankers have never had it so good with mortgage rates and lending rates outstripping the salaries of the common man. Economist predict that if trends continue on their present course, the public will suffer foreclosures and new home owners will have no chance to afford a mortgage in the future. This paints a doomsday picture in the minds of some people as they feel the tightening fingers of recession grip the throat of the economy. But wait, don’t jump off that building just yet, yeah its true we are heading into choppier economic waters but there are always two sides to every story. Read the rest of this entry »

Artificial lighting has the power to impact the feel of your bathroom, whether it is calm and relaxing or purely functional. Lighting fixtures range from decorative classical style wall lamps to modern recessed down lighters that are simple and add a sense of purity to the scheme. There are several types of artificial lighting: ambient, task and accent lighting. At minimum a bathroom needs two types of artificial light: the bright and lively kind that gives clear illumination and the soft, subtle, relaxing kind for those quiet moments. Light, whether natural or artificial, can have a profound effect on the atmosphere of the room and its decoration. Most traditional bathrooms came with a fixture over the sink or a combo light fixture/ventilation fan located approximately in the middle of the 5ft x 8ft ceiling. The narrowly focused light from this fixture did a great job of lighting the sink but unfortunately cast weird shadows under your eyes, cheek bones and chin. Fortunately coming up with a better lighting plan isn’t difficult. In today’s bigger, more beautiful bathrooms, lighting plays a new major role. Read the rest of this entry »
