Water Solutions Home Expo 2010

Water and bathrooms go hand in hand, everyone understands this. The thing that most home owners don’t quite grasp is the difference between hard water and soft water and whether or not they should purchase a water softener system for their home. On my rounds down at Home Expo 2010 I happened to come across a display for Water Solutions and I was fortunate enough to have an expert explain the benefits of having a water filtration and purification system in your home. Hard water, as it was explained to me, contains large amounts of calcium and magnesium, two minerals that cause the soapy scum on glasses and lime residue on bathroom fixtures. It was further pointed out to me, that while this water is suitable for drinking and gardening, hard water can cause mineral build-up in water heaters, pipes and showerheads, reducing the waters natural flow (which could lead to costly repair or replacement). Also a fact little known to home owners is that hard water furthermore reduces soap and shampoo’s ability to lather properly (so you use more), and more over, laundry becomes harder and duller in appearance.

"Summary: Water softeners, solve hard water problems. Having a water filtration and water purification system in your home gets rid of chlorine, calcium and magnesium in your drinking water. Water Solutions also offers whole house soft water systems with water softening salt that softens your household water. They also offer reverse osmosis filter systems, coolers, chillers, bottled water and filtered shower heads."

As you can see the benefits of softer water in your bathroom are numerous. Soft water leaves your skin feeling smoother and your hair softer and more manageable. And who likes soap residue? Water Solutions can help ensure your bath towels are cleaner and softer and make cleaning your bathroom easier by reducing soap scum and residue in your shower and on your fixtures. And the icing on the cake is that you can save up to fifty percent on your purchase of soap products just by installing a whole house water softener in your home not to mention increase the life span of all your appliances that use water, including your dish washer, hot water tank, washing machine, humidifier, coffee machine and even your water kettles.

Water softeners or whole house water treatment systems use a process called ion exchange to remove minerals from a water supply before it enters the home. This involves passing the water through a tank filled with resin beads that are coated with ions of either sodium or potassium chloride.
