Creating Space in Your Bathroom The Smart and Easy Way

Bathrooms are usually assigned less space that any other room in your house. As it turns out one of the biggest design challenges is to make room for all that you want. From toilets to sinks to showers and bathtubs, each fixture requires a minimum amount of space above and around their physical dimensions in order to be used easily and safely.

If space is an issue in your bathroom as it usually is in your typical bathroom, there are a few ways of overcoming this obstacle. One way is to purchase smaller fixtures instead of regular sized ones. An example of this would be to buy a shower instead of a tub. You can also omit some fixtures altogether. Is it really necessary to get a separate bidet? Why not consider an all-in-one-toilet or purchase a separate bidet multifunctional seat? And is a sink/vanity a necessity? Could you get by with just a pedestal sink?

Another option is to take space from another adjoining room such as a hallway, closet or spare bedroom that you don’t use. This can usually be converted into extra space without too much or a hassle or expense. Sometimes your adjoining rooms can spare a few extra square feet to add much needed valuable space to your bathroom.

The third and final option is to create space by converting an attic, basement, or garage in the form of building an addition to your house. While a full sized addition usually requires you building a foundation the other alternative is to simply bump out your existing walls about two feet. This is a cost effective alternative that does not require the considerable expense of a full sized addition. Which is perfect if all you want to add is a shower area.
